Looking forward to a great weekend! We have friends coming in from Chicago today and have a jammed backed weekend. Tomorrow we are hitting the beach with this 90 degree weather.

A good sport

So very proud of my little man, Julian. He was the recipient of his baseball team's Sportsmanship award! He was the youngest and smallest boy on the team, but always went out of his way to let his teammates know what a great job they were doing. This kid has such a big heart!

Definition: Sportsmanship - conduct (as fairness, respect for one's opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing) becoming to one participating in a sport

Way to go Julian! YOU ROCK!!!

Sunny days….

My long awaited girls weekend has come and gone way to quickly! Fortunately, Palm Springs is only 2 hours away where we can do it all over again soon!

We hit the road and arrived at The Saguaro. It was definitely not a place I would recommend for families. It was a young, retro crowd who liked to relax, drink and throw a few beach balls around!

As we arrived, we were all eager to hit the pool and begin our relaxing weekend. I do have to admit, I maybe over did-it the first day, I sometimes forget I'm not twenty-five anymore!

I thought the hotel overall was nice, EXCEPT for the restaurant-bar "El Jefe". We decided to have dinner there and were very disappointed with the quality of food. We ordered some carne-asada tacos and had to send them back because they were RAW! When they came out again, I could not get past the fact that the tortillas were old and stale. Needless to say, I won't be returning to "El Jefe" anytime soon.

We ended our wonderful weekend with some shopping! A pit-stop at Cabazon Outlets completed our quality time together! It's always great spending time with these lovely ladies. Good times with great girls!

Let them eat cake

My favorite part about having a party is ordering the CAKE! Not necessarily because I like to eat cake  (I do, who doesn't), but the enjoyment of designing and creating our special themed cakes.

As my kids are getting older, I'm thinking our themed cakes days are numbered. I was looking back at pictures and it made me think of all the great cakes my kids have been lucky to enjoy. I wanted to share two of our favorites and include a few that I am hoping will be part of our celebrations in the near future!

SUPER excited about this coming weekend! Getting away with my girls to celebrate a friends birthday. We are headed to sunny Palm Springs. We will be staying at The Saguaro, their retro decor inspired me for a few essentials that will make this trip even better!

I was so excited this weekend to share a special day with one of my best friends and celebrate her and her baby boy! I can not tell you how incredibly lucky this baby boy will be! He is so very loved and has two amazing parents! Congratulations Justin and Dawn! I LOVE you guys!

SANGRIA.....not only for Cinco de Mayo!

Let me share with you the best and easiest Sangria recipe ever! I would love to take credit for this, but I stole this recipe from my friend Mari and have been using it ever since. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but when you add a few fruity ingredients it makes it all better! 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED............................................................................

• One bottle of red wine (you could even use white, but I prefer red)
• Ice
• A bag of frozen berries
• Orange juice
• 7-up

I'm not one for measurements, just pour and taste.

First, add ice to a pitcher, I usually go about half way on the pitcher. Add a small bag of frozen berries - the berries I like to use are raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. Next, throw a whole bottle of red wine into the pitcher. Then add the orange juice (I use about 25% of orange juice assuming that it's a new box). Finally, add a whole can of 7-up. Don't forget to mix! YUM! 

It really is a great drink for a girls night, even the boys will want a glass!
